Chopped - a Best Fat Quarter Quilt for Quilters Newsletter

by Joanne Hillestad on 11/14/14

TGIF!  Happy Friday!

Quilters Newsletter BEst Fat Quarter Quilts 2014

I'm so glad you all hopped on over to visit my blog!

Chopped is a fun, beginner level quilt that uses 8 fat quarters, sashing and a border. My sister, Blondie, went through a vegetable print craze last winter. As a result, I was asked to "please do something with these!"

 Quilters Newsletter Chopped

Photo Supplied by Quilters Newsletter

Chopped was the result.  But don't think you have to use vegetables too... Oh no!

You can use pastels

Or something more modern

Maybe something for Quilts of Valor?

I'm not done!

The holidays are coming up... maybe you need some placemats? The block makes a nice placemat. Just add a binding.

Did you notice I only used 4 fat quarters in the one above? 4 half yard cuts works great too!

Now, I tend to always have one foot a little outside the "normal" box. My son told me this next one is psychedelic! I admit it is a little on the bright side... but there are all kinds of quilters with all kinds of tastes!

So, don't be afraid to chop up any fat quarters you love!

Happy Quilting!

Jo

kthurn@bektel.com I love the chopped quilt. I saved a lot of the fruit and vegetable fabric to make aprons but everyone I know now has aprons so I was at a loss of what to do with my leftovers. It's nice to see how well they would look in such a quilt. Thanks for sharing the idea.
